You ask, I answer… Why I call myself a “Gentleman Explorer”.
Every once in awhile someone will comment in person or on Twitter about the “Gentleman Explorer” that I use in describing myself… mostly why it’s there and is it just a joke. The answer is yes and no…
I first came across the term “Gentleman Explorer” while reading about about Julius Brenchley, born on November 30th, 1816 (my birthday BTW) in Kent, England. Brenchley was an ordained minister and dubbed a “Gentleman Explorer”, who “spent much of his adult life exploring the world in his tireless search for knowledge.
