Questions

(This post was originally postes on my blog on ShadyGrove.org)

I have learned a lot being over the Children’s ministry here at Shady Grove. I now know more about Star Wars video games, Pokemon, the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana then I ever really even cared to know.

I’ve also learned a lot about kids. I’ve learned that our kids have questions… Lots of questions. Some of them are pretty basic, some are not so basic. No matter how hard or easy the questions are, they all have one thing in common. They’re all HONEST questions.

When was the last time you asked some HONEST questions. Questions about yourself, about your life, your faith or your God? I had my first real encounter with God after I CHALLENGED God with what I thought were some hard, honest questions. I was shocked when God answered them.

Some of the greatest growth moments of my life were when I asked QUESTIONS, or was asked questions by God.

Matthew 18:3 says, “I’m telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you’re not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God’s kingdom.” (MSG)

The truth is, to become mature in God, we actually have to get a little immature. Quit acting like we have it all figured out, and start asking HONEST QUESTIONS about the things we just don’t understand.
